This checklist of the birds of India is based on the official India checklist, but updated to IOC taxonomy.

BUBO Listing logo

The Status column indicates whether a species is Endemic to India, or a Near Endemic, i.e. those species where the vast majority of their population occurs in South Asia (comprising Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and the Chagos Archipelago), or neighbouring parts of China and Myanmar.

The IUCN column displays the Red List category.
